SONGS ON REPEAT

I'm going to start with this without any intro. So diving into my list. woooshh!

Number 1:
"Love me like you do"- Ellie Goulding.
Well, firstly I'm not a big big Ellie Goulding song person. It's just this one one song. My first!
Oh my God! this song is like AAAHHHHH!
*sings the song like a psycho*
I have actually been tricked into liking it because of Fifty Shades of Grey trailers.
This is Ellie's contribution to the Fifty Shades soundtrack.
I've been singing this song like a kid rhyming the ABCs.

Number 2:

Maroon 5- "Maps", "Sugar" and "Animals"
I think I'll always be a Maroon 5 person. Just always. This is one thing that I can't change even if I wanted to.

ADAM LEVINE.
Phew~

Starting off with the bestest of their album 'V' , “Sugar” hits all the right spots. Feathery synths and slick Prince-like bass back Levine as he puts his sensual falsetto croon to good use. Calling out the girl of his dreams, he sings, “Sugar / Yes, please / Won't you come and put it down on me?” The video of this song is even more exciting and it'll make you smile. I can't say that all the weddings in the video are legit but its been said that there are two weddings in the video which are completely real. The couple and the guests didn't have the slightest idea! I think people are going to write to Levine about crashing into their wedding now. Nevertheless, it's one my favorite songs now!

"Maps" is another one of my favorites. Levine plays the forlorn love slave tracking his gone girl over a disco beat that turns into a stomping funk-soul-gospel breakdown which I've come to love. He sings All the roads you took came back to me / So I'm following the map that leads to you..uh,” he sings over wild guitar licks. I'm in love with the way each line ends.
Animals” is another ferocious standout.Yes FEROCIOUS. Mixing hip-hop beats with its brand of pop-rock, the band creates a “Hungry Like the Wolf” for a new generation. This jam packs the most bite on the album, especially with Adam's mean howl towards the end. The lady in the video is actually Adam Levine's wife Behati Prinsloo. I find the video very very very creepy. All that dangerous and damn serious stalking and stuff. I actually dislike it pretty much with all that blood and stuff. Not something that I would want to watch over and over again. I like the audio. Period.

Number 3:
"Uptown Funk"- Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
It's 2015 but don't ever feel that the power of funk has gone away.
I definitely feel it's the other way round because I haven't heard Mark sing anywhere in the entire song. Even in the video its all Bruno. If you don't look carefully you might just miss Mark Ronson as one of the back up dancers trying to channel the days when disco wasn't retro. The song is a true bass heavy number which will pull you no, drag you to the dance floor mentally. Uptown Funk" marries the worlds of '70s funk with modern pop music. From the very first moments, when backup singers rush in with baritone bumps, it's clear that "Uptown Funk" is fire. Hand claps and a high guitar riff set the stage for the modern funky tune.

During the college fests season this year each and everyone of them which I attended had this number playing the loudest. It also gave way to a lot of the awkward bum swaying and hand moments. This one is going to be playing for a LONG time now. So better get your senses to not get bored and annoyed of it. *flashback* Desi girl song from Dostana featuring Priyanka Chopra got on my nerves.

Number 4 :
The Apache Relay- "Katie Queen of Tennessee"
Apache Relay is a Nashville based band. I first heard the song on a Buzzfeed video. It played in the background to now one of my favorite videos. I quickly youtubed it and have fallen in love with it since then. The idea of shooting at a 70s-themed skating rink came to the band while driving around Boston. And I adore the 70s settings, there is something 'free' about them always.  They wanted to keep some mystery around who the song’s Katie really was, keeping her face hidden in the whirlwind visual which I think is genius because I know want to know who she is. It gives room to more songs about Katie :P Listen to this peppy lovelorn number. I love it!

Number 5
Mika - "Talk About You" and "Good Guys"
(Yes, the Grace Kelly singer )
He's  the mastermind behind the infectious hits "Grace Kelly" and "Love Today" and he has returned to the airwaves!
"Talk about you"  released on 25th March 2015.
This song is an instantly likable number with infinite panache. It' s fresh and it definitly stands out from the more RnB inspired music everywhere. This song is INSTANT. Its a pure-pop, guitar driven number with that wonderful chorus, O-to-the-MG, the repetitive chore is gold
"Good Guys" I first heard of this song when Mika performed this on the X-Factor. Its yet another adorable piece of music. Just like in all the Mika songs I've heard so far he maintains his upbeat, dreamy voice and melodies  in this one too. There is something about European men. Daayuum!

To the taste buds!

Eat what the locals eat. And what do we all love?

STREET FOOD!

Street foods are generally sold on streets, public areas like a market,in a fair by a hawker, vendor with a portable stall. They are ready to eat/drink. Every Indian city has its own speciality of all time favourite snacks. Indian streets are very famous for its cheap & tangy mouth-watering khana (food). And trust me the streets are filled with vendors in the evenings.
Agreed. A major health concerns these days- cleanliness and freshness of these lovelies are discouraging people from eating street food. Its compulsory for the hawkers or what ever you might call them (bhaiya ji maybe? :P) to wear gloves and maintain hygiene in all circumstances. And if they don't you should completely point this out.

 Moving from this,

I also believe very strongly, that as everything is available everywhere, the true taste of these below listed food items have got lost. Somewhere between all those zillion rip-offs tried. The closest to the true, original taste can be tasted only by going back to the roots. That is where they were original made ( where the madness began).

So,I'll go city wise! Here are the top 10 street foods of major Indian cities:

New Delhi
Our national capital, New Delhi is famous for its tasty street foods either Indian or Chinese with Indian flavour. North Indian food sold in some places is also relatively good. But the best are the chaats. All kinds. All of them. Damn. Anddd my fav. Chole Bhature. Delhi style.

Basically, chole bhature is a Punjabi dish but it is very popular in major urban cities of India. Commonly eaten for break fast, Delhi is well famous for best chole bhature.

Mumbai is well, famous for the best Vada Paos ever! (Indian and tastier version of a burger). It is the most loved and ultimate staple food item, consists of a fried potato dumplings called vada served in a bun, pav with condiments such as red or green chutneys and fried green chillies.

The other few street foods common in Mumbai are  misal pav, pav bhaji,  pav-sample,  dabeli ( I haven't tried this but my friends studying in Mumbai love this) ,  batata wada and kande pohe, paani puri and anda bhurji are the best there.

Uttar Pradesh
• Aloo tikki typically served at road-side tracks from stalls is most popular snack dishes in Lucknow and all over India. Within the street food of  Uttar Pradesh . Aloo tikki is one of the most mouth-watering delicacies I have tasted and hence it has a rip off in just about every other city. But the best apparently is served in Lucknow.
• Galauti kebab, the royal cuisines of Lucknow is a kind of road side food which is also one of the most famous food in streets of Lucknow.

• Rajasthan, the royal state of India, is well famous for its delectable street foods and awesome cuisines. Dal Batti- one of the best is a must try.
Also never miss out on trying their thali ( the vegetarian thali is better than the non-vegetarian one. Suprisingly)

-Found in almost every street shop or stall, Bikaneri kachori is the most favorite amongst the locals.
In fact there are Bikaner shops just about every where in Bangalore.

Kolkata
Kolkata is best during Durga Puja. Its such a festive season. It's beautiful. If you ever happen to be there then do have the Durga Puja Bhog. Its a khichdi beautifully made for tonnes of people it is served with sweet tomato chutney and a weird sabzi I never like :D
• Egg Rolls are one of the most popular of all street foods in Kolkata.
• Wrapped inside a paratha fried eggs served with chutney or sour dipping sauce is commonly available in most of the roadside stalls of Kolkata. My grandparents stay in the "Bengali area" of New Delhi and trust me the rolls there are the best I've had. My favourite-eesssttt is the Double Chicken Double egg roll. OK. Now, I want one      -_-
• Another famous street side food item in Kolkata is phuchka or golgappa or pani puri. There are several other names coined too. But these are the most widely known.
Mishti Doi. I heart Mishti Doi *Sigh*

Chennai
• Idli-Sambhar  or Dosa (there are a ZILLION varieties) is the best food in the streets of Chennai. It is most favorite south Indian dish and is common as breakfast item.It is served with combination of chutney and sambar. Nariyal (coconut) chutney adds more taste. My brother and I also mix the coconut chutney along with the sambar and have it. Or let me be more specific. First dip the idli/dosa piece in the chutney and then in the sambar. We have no idea why? we think it tastes better in this other.
And filter coffee :') yum.

Bangalore
• Akki roti, a spicy bread made from rice flour served with coconut chatney is the specialty of state. I'm not really a fan of this but my friend Ankitha sure is.

• This delicious street food in Bangalore is one of the most popular and common tiffin snack quick to make and tastes so good. The other famous street foods of Bangalore are dosa, sambar, rasam and curd rice. Basically, I feel all the south Indian states somewhere or the other have the same food with just a slight bit of variation making it special.

Hyderabad
Hyderabadi Biryani is the best. Paradise Daawat. I don't think I need to say anything about this. Hyderabad is also famous for its dosa, idli and Bonda.
• Hyderabadi style mirchi bajjis is a common snack or appetizer, stuffed green chili fritters and is widely famous in this city.Though mirchi bajjis are found with different stuffing’s from at different regions in India but Hyderabadi style mirchi bajjis are the best one to have.

The seven sister states-MOMOs!
The best are there. Seriously.

Pretty they look na :')
And then Indo-Chinese 'Chinese food'.It tastes a bit weird in the beginning but you'll eventually like it. And then the evergreen- '2 minutes ki maggi' Maggi there is very very very different. If nothing else try the Maggi :P

Patna
On my recent trip to Patna I tried a lot of 'Bihari food' like dal paratha ( its got dal as a stuffing) and then Litti Choka. My grandma makes them best.

Its the most famous dish and the soul food for Bihar, Jharkhand  and eastern Utter Pradesh - Litti Choka is looks like dal batti of Rajasthan but its completely different in taste as well as in recipe. The traditional dish of Bihar is made with sattu, grinded gram nut or chana served with chokha made out of potato, brinjal and tomato and a bowl of melted pure desi ghee. Litti Chokha is the best breakfast, lunch and dinner and one of the most important delicacy of Bihar cuisine. Never miss the chance to taste it on streets of Patna.

Now that I'm hungry as ever I might as well stop typing and sprint to the kitchen and cook something.

Byes!
Stay Happy :) Stay Blessed :)

Love Drunk

I thought of this today after having this huge talk with my brother about the right age to start drinking and all of that Shemurr. Yes, I went from something to something. But this has quickly become one my favourite 'food for thought' topics. I think about this all time, like while applying Guassian Elimination to connecting circuits in the labs to those completely awkward elevator moments. I went from thinking- what does it mean to be love drunk? To- what does it feel like to be love drunk? To- I want to be love drunk. I've a hopeless brain in such situations. HOPELESS.

Queen Bey's Drunk in love Feat. Jay Z has got me onto making this little phrase(or what exactly should I call it?)
Beyonce is like, Universal Crush. Like everybody crushes Beyonce. Everybody. And if you say you don't, I'm sure you are mixing names with faces. Go google. or wait! I'll do it for you!
Here-
BEYONCEEE!

Beach hair, I love <3

Just about every song of hers. I like. And this isn't some R&B craze I have periodically :P
She is my forever!

Now recovering from my TMI,
There are more than one kind of ways of 'being drunk' or as some say 'being high'
One , quite obviously, is being high on alcohol, but this isn't what I wanted to talk about.
One can be high on lots of thing- high on love, high on food, high on shopping, high on petting, high on cleaning one's closet. Anything. Anything that gives you that 'new happy wala feeling'. Having said that , I know and you would agree to this- that of all the highs out there in the world- love is the 'strongest drunk'

As a society- we are repeatedly seeking some sort of high. It could be from a substance (include food here), a relationships, working, you name it! There is constant everlasting desire to feel this 'high'.
Sometimes the day just ends doing those mediocre things which we crave for or rather feel the need to do or have always.
If you just sit and think of this, you would realise that nothing in your daily schedule gives you high and even if it did, it didn't have a lasting impression on the way you processed situations.  Complete blur eh? But trust me! you would find it difficult to chalk down 5 things you did that weren't in your normal day schedule that made you feel this 'high' feeling. Give it a try.
But as soon as I reached this point in my thinking , I realised that I need a clear picture of at least a single thing I do and not just sail through these everyday motions and emotions!

Maybe I'm an Idealist and maybe I'm too much of this 'I heart everything' person.
I feel we all should work towards making everyday feel like in the influence of love. And by this I don't mean the romantic kind. The general love and kindness for people and animals. Love for simple things. Love for the world we live in. Love for life in general.

Cheers to ALL the limitless drunks we would experience and cherish.
Lets achieve the best drunk :)

My 1st DIY blog- Quilling!

Hey all!
Hope you guys are having fun these holidays!
I haven't posted anything for long, I know :/
I was too lazy :P
okay so!
Holiday season and I thought instead of gifting something bought from the mall why not gift a quilling wall hanging. You know to give it that personal touch :P
So I put my summer learning to test and decided to do it!
and came out pretty impressive, everybody loved it!

And then I thought why not write a blog on 'How to Quill" ( now that I'm awesome at it XD )

So, Firstly, I made many others but these two I feel will cover up the basics for sure.

and

The first wall hanging - I gifted my grandmother and its a proudly hanging in her living room wall along with other art work :P
So yes lets quill!

Materials required :
1. A quilling tool, you can buy one like I did but if you don't wish to then there are ways to make one at home too.
here is the link,
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV4yyjL2CUQ
2. Strips of quilling paper. Now this you've got to buy! they come in different lengths and breadths and colours,of course. Hit the nearest stationery store.
3. Glue
4. Chart paper- I use chart paper, you can use any other kind it doesn't really matter.

So once you have all the required materials and tools with you, I suggest you place them all on your workstation over a newspaper or something so that you don't mess things up. I always make all the flowers and the leaves and everything else first and once I'm done with that I stick it onto the final sheet.

To make the flowers 💐

STEP 1 -  I cut the strips of quilling paper exactly half or a little less vertically.
Actually I must say this that there are different widths of quilling papers available. For flowers of these kind I suggest you use bigger widths. I used 10mm one's. They are so much more easier to work with.

I fold the paper like 4times equally and then cut. And it should look like the picture above.

STEP 2 - I place the paper into the quilling pen and begin to quill. So here you need to careful with quilling this because there is a high probability that you'll tear the cut further and then you'll have two strips and a smaller flower.
Quill like this-

STEP 3 - once you have finished quilling the strip, secure the end with a little glue. It should look something like this

STEP 4 - Flatten out the cuts you made and TADAAAA!
you've made a quilled flower!
Make several of these in different colours and stack them all!

To make the leaves
STEP 1 - Quill the green strips of paper and on reaching the end let the circle expand.  Like this-

Now by how much you let the strip expand you can decide how big our small a leaf you want.

STEP 2 -  place the end strategically and press and crease the expanded circle.
Like this-

There you have it! The leaves :)

Now for the butterfly -
STEP 1 - This one took some time because I needed to have both the upper wings amd both the lower wings to be of equal size.
STEP 2 - Once that is done you can make the body of the butterfly just the way you made the leaves.
STEP 3 - The head is a tight.
STEP 4 - The antenna-ish thing I made is just a half quilled strip!
Finally your butterfly must look like this

I made small buds in the middle just so that it looks different.
For the flower buds all I did was quill the strips of paper and creased the circle into a triangle first and then made a dent into one of the sides of the triangle.
There, you have successfully made all the required shapes.

I choose normal coloured chart paper which are available in all Stationery shops. I choose to use slightly thicker sheets of chart as I wanted to frame it finally.

I place all the elements on the chart paper according to this rough idea I have in my mind. And eventually stick them all with glue.

Now for the 2nd wall hanging, make the leaves the same way we made for the 1st one and the flowers are nothing but tight coils and slightly loose coils of quilling paper strips i.e., once I quilled the strip of paper I did not let it expand alot.
Stick them the way you want it!
I chose to make a wreath as a christmas gift :)

Have fun!

Stay Blessed :)

My top 5 YouTubers

The atmosphere lingers with the feeling of one of the most intense philosophical episodes of Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you?

Our four-legged allies

"Anybody who doesn't know what soap tastes like never washed a dog"- Franklin P. Jones

Ha ha ha.

yes yes YES!
my article on doggies!

Here a Dog, there a Dog everywhere a Dog-Dog!
such loving beautiful creatures!

One of my brothers by birth is a Canis lupus familiaris but by mind and soul is a smarter Homo Sapien than a few people I've met.

You get such joys when you live with one, for one being-  You enter home and he's the first to welcome you back,  such alacrity!

Ceasar, my Blue roan Cocker Spaniel is snoring with his bum sticking to mine as I type and is evidently upset with me moving so much.
We share just about everything with this guy- from parents,  to grandparents , to beds , to chicken... to books. He sleeps on mine just like I sleep on them.
I still remember when I was 4, I told Papa that Ayush and I wanted to share our chicken with a puppy , after a few days we were gifted a black and white soft toy dog. My father really thought I would fall for that.
My parents wanted us to be ready for a dog! and at that time when he told us that, we weren't 'ready'. like man!! we are ready for one! Yes, you are right. Damn right! We weren't. physically and mentally.
When we got Ceasu home( Ceasu is what we call him these days) he was about 45 days.I still remember he peed in the car- that cute little handsome tail-wagger.
Taking him for walks was basically like Farhan Akhtar's Bhag Milkha Bhag training. uff.
well, growing up with a dog is a wonderful experience I must say this. We used to go shopping for his accessories- his leash, his collar.  It makes you responsible. I'll tell you why-
1) We ate our lunch and dinner on time as we had to feed him.
2) We would remember to close all doors and windows just to save Ceasu (when he was a puppy) from eagles.
3) Never ever have we made a sudden decision. Its always been planned as Ceasu would be at home waiting for us.
4) Giving him a bath was taking two baths ourselves!
5) Saving him from all the fights he'd get into with all those other galli ke beauties is a battle itself.

Well, there is one more thing about Ceasu- He is mad about my Mumma. If you ever see them walking around at home you'll realize you've seen that still from somewhere. I'll tell you where- Mary and her little lamp. That's how it is. Nobody, NOBODY can change it!
He's my mom's commando.
He's an old soldier now but back then in his heydays his energy was infectious.

Its beautiful how they grow into such wonderful , loving creatures. I can't imagine my life without him.

To all those who want to share their chicken with these beauties must realize that it's an effort to have a dog. Actually it's an effort to own any domestic animal. Its a matter of discipline and humanity, in some matters.
Here are a few things you should know and consider before choosing your canine partner -
1) Dogs take up alot of time and energy. Yes, they rewarding. But if you live alone and work twenty hours a day, then Dogs aren't the best choice for you. But lives change you can own one when you know you are a bit more settled. get what I mean?
2) You can't keep them leashed all the time. The more you keep that leash away the happier the doggy is. So get ready to clean up for that tail wagging and breaking a few things in the living area.
3) Leaving them locked in the bathroom or the balcony isn't something you'll do to your baby right? You need to realize that you've moved him/her away from his mother so you need to nurture and take care of him just like him mother would, but yes there will be some gaps but love fills them in no time.
4) Consider which breeds are suitable to your regions climate. It helps to choose this right.
5)Puppies like to investigate and chew on just about everything during their toothing period. So keep a few chew toys near and those expensive shoes away.
6) Take your dog(s) to a certified vet regularly for those routine check ups. Your doggy will thank you for it and live a healthier ( and longer) life. Also I feel its better if its the same vet all the time. I don't think dogs like changes in that department. I just feel like it should be that way.
7) Lastly, if you want to skip all that potty training and stuff, adopt an old or housebroken doggy. They await love.

So go ahead and bring home a gift! they are adorable.
Try testing this- Give one of those beauties a packet of glucose biscuits for a week. He'll follow you where ever you go on the 8th day. Share how it made you feel :)

Here's a picture of us ( Ayush,  Ceasu and me) -

Stay blessed. Stay happy.
